Hello friends! In my last post I left you with a cliffhanger of epic proportions and now I will be revealing what almost everyone already knows! I have moved to California and got a job at Disneyland! Surprise! Okay, so I'm yet again a little late with my updates, but here is how things are going so far: Not too bad, not too bad. I began my orientation and training on November 12th of last year and it's been a fun and challenging ride into 2012. I have the honor of joining the legendary ranks of the Jungle Cruise Skippers and couldn't be happier in the role I play at Disneyland. I get to go to work and make peoples dreams come true, kids and adults alike. I know we all have heard that Disneyland makes the magic and sometime we kind of dismiss it and say "yeah right, bet it's different if you work there." Well I can tell you that I make the magic every day and I enjoy every second of it. They treat their employees very well, and I am lucky enough to work with some very cool and talented individuals. I have new experiences every single day and it keeps the work interesting.
As far as life outside of work goes, I must confess that it is challenging. Things are much more expensive out here and I'm learning that the hard way. I have a small studio apartment that I'm (in my opinion) paying way too much for but was the lowest I could find. I am trying like crazy to acquire a second job at one of the hundreds of hotels in the area. All in all, I am hanging in there, but things have been tight.
After working for the place where dreams come true, I have dabbled in finding out what it takes to become an Imagineer. This is a long term dream, but like Walt said, "
All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them." So I will keep this in mind as I work my way up the ladder and learn the ins and outs of Disney. Until then, "I only hope that we don't lose sight of one thing - that it was all started by a mouse."
Extracarricular
I have found a lot of time recently awarded to me so I have been brushing up (pun intended) on my Photoshop skills! I'll post some samples as soon as I get a few projects done.
